Cobh Sea Angling Club (CSAC) takes full advantage of the local fishing scene, as one would expect. Being based in such a large natural port, there is always somewhere to fish in bad weather, but when the sun shines and the sea conditions are right, there is some great fishing to be had outside Roches Point in the open sea.

Local reefs, wrecks and kelp grounds provide plenty of sport with local cod, pollack and whiting always to be found. Not far away are popular marks such as the "Ling Rocks" and if you know where to find them, a few wrecks, the Lusitania being one of these.

CSAC is very keen on developing the sport of fishing in the Cork area and it's members run a master angler competition each year for club members, monthly weekend pleasure angling trips are organised and we have appointed 2 members of the committee to concentrate on promoting and encouraging fishing amongst our juvenile members.

We now have an open boat policy, to enable club members to use their own vessels for our angling competitions and would encourage local boat owners to join our club and partake in the many activities arranged by our committee.

In addition to superb local fishing, we as a club take advantage of the excellent variety and quality of fishing throughout the South West of Ireland, arranging regular trips down west towards Beara, Kerry, Clare and Galway. Weekend breaks are always a good opportunity for some fantastic fishing in good company where we can enjoy the "Craic" in the evening, washing the salty taste from our mouths with whatever local brew takes our fancy.

Cobh is the major sea town on Great Island, situated in the world's second largest natural harbour of Cork Harbour. Cobh has a great tradition and history as a sea port, most notably for being the last port of call for the tragic maiden journey of the Titanic.

Cobh is so steeped in history and heritage that you will find it easy to step back in time and savour the experiences of bygone eras. The Titanic Trail, St Colmans Cathedral, the Heritage Centre and Cobh Museum are just some of the journeys that await you. Cobh Tourist information office will be happy to provide details on local fine food restaurants, festivals and attractions such as the nearby widely renowned Fota Wildlife Park and House. Be sure to drop into the shops and pubs of Cobh to meet the folk and join in on the banter and craic that makes a visit to Cobh so memorable.
